Is black the new white?

As the US Democratic Party is close to finalising its presidential candidate, the Republican Party is planning ways to counteract the popularity of Democratic Party or maybe take advantage of the Democrat’s division due to the long drawn out Democratic Party’s primary process. It cannot be denied that the two contenders of the Democratic Party rose to fame due to the historical importance it will bring when either Barack Obama or Hilary Clinton wins as President. Obama will become the first US black president and Clinton would be the first female president. Now Obama has a majority of the all important delegate count. At the rate this going, it seems that Obama will win the primary nomination and will eventually be the Democratic Presidential Candidate. Political commentators are speculating that he will pick either John Edwards or Hilary Clinton as vice presidential candidate to draw the white, working class votes. Do you think it’s a wise choice for Republican Candidate John McCain to choose Condoleezza Rice as vice president to lure black and female voters to the Republican Party?

Yes, I agree. McCain needs someone like Rice to attract the black vote, given the popularity of Obama.

Hi Deuts, I am not a pro-American but we cannot deny that the outcome of the US election is very important not only to the American people but to the whole world. They still remain the world’s superpower and controls more than 50% of the worlds wealth. This is evident in the market capitalisation of American Companies listed in the New York Stock Exchange whose market value is more than 50% of the total market capitalisation of all companies listed all over the world. We don’t notice it but almost all of us are American customers from the time we check our yahoo email, search something in google or watch a hollywood movie.

I don’t think McCain would put Condoleeza on the bottom of his ticket. I don’t think he expects or needs African American support.
African Americans that are voting for Obama because he is the first black candidate would probably have voted Democrat, or not voted at all, whereas if they would vote Republican just for Ms Rice, they would probably be voting Republican anyway. Also I don’t think women will necessarily vote for Hillary anyway. They are intelligent enough to pick the best candidate, rather than the female candidate.

Since McCain is a moderate, I think it is likely he will put someone with a stronger religious background. Someone like Mike Huckabee who will reassure the religious right.

I think the Democratic primary race has significantly reduced the Democrats chances in November. If McCain runs a tight campaign, he should have a very good shot.

I don’t think that any of the 3 potential Presidents has a very strong economic policy. With the confusing strategy the Fed is currently pursuing, I am worried that with an economically weak president, the future does not look bright for the global economy.

However, it doesn’t matter to Australia, China & India will make us rich :D

I think Mike Huckabee is a definite no. I would be extremely surprised if McCain picks him. My guess is Condoleezza Rice, Carly Fiorina or Lindsey Graham.

Well I think the woman support is a big thing, especially when you break down the support base of Clinton.

As it stands now (i.e. latest opinion polls), McCain would need to do a lot more if he wants to make it into the White House.

    Keeps the posts coming Wilson!
